Gah! Paul started a WAR? How?

There's no word of violence, yet, but it looks like there's that possibility in the future. People over there still seem to have net access, so Paul should get the fuck online.

According to his blog he's made it up to Chiang Mai, which is pretty far from where all the action is.

Last time I checked he was last in Bangkok.

Nice to hear he's out of the State of Emegency.

Okay, maybe not. How far away is he? Neighbouring provinces have fallen to the coup already.

Yikes, why did I check the news this afternoon?

Martial Law seems to have been declared everywhere, as it is a joint coup of the military and police forces. Just don't get upity with any "officers" Paul.
I'm going to ask the stupid question of the continuation of his contract due to this political upheaval. As the coup comes after disputed election results this could be a smoother transition than we think with a "coup". If Paul is working for an independant nongovernmental organization he might not be given any shit about his work and be left alone. That's the best case senario. If its any worse or shit starts going down further between any resulting factions we want you home Paul.
Keep your eyes open and your head down. My thoughts are with you my friend.

Paul,
Hopefully you still have access to this though I know that BBC and CNN are now denied you ironically I know this through BBC. I'm unsure if you had noticed a little thing like this but there has been...y'know...military coups in the country you are in. Perhaps this may persuade you to consider coming home. I would like to encourage this consideration or at least I would like a rationale on why you are stll perfectly safe.
lots of love, Rachael

I have CNN and I'm in Chiang Mai. I found out when I woke up this morning. More news to follow. Apparently there are troops here to, but I haven't seen them myself.

Not to be incautious, but I don't think there's really reason for Paul to flee, unless and until the DFAIT issues an advisory to that effect.

...as Paul's already noted on his blog, as it turns out....
