Something Happening

Prior to Chinee Foo on Sunday May 6, 2007, the Jolly Rodger will host a rough* and tumble* Cinco de Mayo.

Byob and all smoking of all things will take place in the back alley. Tap on the window or ring buzzer 103.

8pm until everyone is sick and tired of each other (or Chinee Foo happens).

And WHY do we have four tags for alcohol consumption on here?!

Board/Card Games

Thursday March 15

I'm having a few people over, 7pmish, to play some games like Apples to Apples and... uh... other games?

I'll probably get the first game going at 7:15pm, and then start subsequent games.

Nerd Party!

It looks as though I am getting my two extra wiimotes today or tomorrow! I would've liked to have had 4 remotes, but Wii Play comes out next month and it comes with an extra wiimote.

I'd like to schedule a Wii Party for Saturday late afternoon prior to going to Body Worlds (that forces us to leave around 8:30 to get dinner and to Science World in a timely fashion).

I'm thinking of being ready for gaming around 3:30-4pm. Earlier birds will get guaranteed play time on the game(s) of their choice. Multiplayer games (number of people able to play at one time) as as follows:

Need for Speed Carbon (2)
Elebits (3 - limited to number of wiimotes)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (3 - limited to number of wiimotes)
Wii Sports (2, 3, or 4 - one wiimote is shared for bowling, boxing is 2-player only)

I do not have Zelda: Twilight Princess at this time as I have leant it out in exchange for Need for Speed.

House rules are as follows:

1. The wrist strap stays on all the time.
2. Mach 10 speeds are not required for the system to recognize your movements.
3. Share. I may have troubles adhering to this one, but I'll try.
4. The wrist strap stays on all the time.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested, feel free to bring snacks or drinks as dinner will be late.

So... About the party...

It's still on, but I will warn you:

Christmas Party

Hey, I have been meaning to do a lot more than I have. The following is a list of things meant to be done this year but have miserably failed:

1. Christmas cards. A shout out to those who actually got their shit in gear and got the cards out. Props go far to Mariko for sending hers the earliest. It also helps that I only raked in a scant 6 or so addresses, and was going to scout out theother dozen or so friend cards and another dozen or so family cards. So... I have your cards, they're just at my place.

2. Along with said cards were going to be Christmas party invitations. Really cool ones with instructions and possibly pirate themed. As you can see that I got left at the design phase. I can poop out a mailout in about 4 hours, but here, we are, more than 4 hours later, and no invitations.

3. Plan a hand-made gift exchange. I suppose there is still time to do that, but I'm thinking the gifts might be a little on the scrimpy side with such short notice.

4. Bake cookies! Again, while there might be time, there are other pending issues needing to be done (like actually acquiring Christmas gifts and wrapping them in time). Maybe I'll make New Year's cookies.

Instead, I beat Zelda: Twilight Princess and set up my tree. I made handmade ornaments for it to make sure it wasn't sparsely decorated (even after making a bunch of ornaments, it was still naked, so I bought some extras).

BUT NOW! I am ready and prepared to announce a Christmas party that has yet to be officially announced. A few weeks back I sent out a "it's coming this night" email to a bunch of you, and to wait for further instructions (Which were going to be in the mail, but... number one thing of things I didn't do). But I still love you all, even if I've been socially hibernating (sometimes unintentionally).

In conclusion: Come to my party on Saturday. Bring your egg nogs, your rum, your hot toddies, your friends, your plus-ones, your parents (if they've got nothing better to do), something to drink, a snack to share if you can (veggies, dips, chips, crackers & cheese, etc.), and last but not least: yourselves. Also: gift wrapped empty boxes so my tree looks way less humiliating are being accepted. I also have no problem with people exchanging gifts among each other and if there is enough of a interest, I can set aside a time when that will happen.

Core group, I ask that you give me a solid RSVPASAP as it'll give me a mini-gift head count.

Waiting for Godot

$23 (I think) for students with ID (that's almost all of you), 7:30pm this Thursday night, Stanley Theatre. Meet up at my place at 6:30pm to head over and buy a block of tickets?

RSVP and I might just buy tickets on my way home from work to save time and possible separation of friends!

In case you missed it...

There will be a pajama housewarming party on Saturday April 15th. I'll probably start in the early afternoon, maybe with some video games, pirates, tour of my neighbourhood, etc. I'll order in pizza dinner (for the movers in my life this weekend, your pizza will be FREE!) and pop in the first movie. Intermission will occur and popcorn will be popped (maybe... I need a microwave/popper before then), maybe some chips or other snack-like items. Feel free to bring snacks yourself. I'll plunk in a second movie, which we will inevitably talk through. Perhaps some gaming to follow? It's going to be looser that I am outlining, so feel free to throw suggestions into the pile.

Cake and singing will be offered for birthday girls in attendance.

Moving weekend, April 1-2, 2006

Jessica, Rachael and myself are all moving this fine weekend.

I know Rachael's moving on the 1st for sure; Jessica will be doing similarly (correct me if I am incorrect); I, however, am working on for the entire 24 hours of the 1st of April and will be unable to move anything that day.

Rachael will be renting a truck for her objects, and just needs arms to move things. Jessica's plans elude me. I have one set of two arms to help me move on the Sunday, any others, including those who might have access to a vehicle that day, would be greatly appreciated. I'm moving the following items:

Wardrobe, clothing, laptop, television, sound system, futon, bears, cats, CDs, DVDs, PS2, games: DS & PS2, laundry basket(s), arts & crafts stuff, toiletries, books (2.5 smaller boxes), sewing machine (supplies), few dishes, some other things.

You will not have to move any beds, desks, tables, chairs, couches, bins of paper, scientific apparatuses, cutlery, bookcases or explosives.

If you are away at a comicon or helping other people move, but still want to assist me, I would appreciate anyone with a vehicle to accompany me to an Ikea location in the week following the 2nd to acquire the following necessary items:

Collapsible table & standard or folding chairs
Possible bed frame (50-50 chance of needing one)
TV stand (to hold the TV & PS2)
Expedit bookcase
Bedding, if I have not acquired it yet

When was the last time you had a say in an Ikea spending frenzy?

I can probably get my parents to help me with the domestic stuff (towels, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker), but it's way more fun with friends.

If everything is set up and ready on the weekend of the 15th, I will be having a pajama party with popcorn, movies and Denny's in the AM. It's going to be low-key as it's in an apartment building and the frenzy of a party is not the best idea.

Let me know; I'm getting more stressed as time goes by (I'm up to five nosebleeds this week).
