Nerd Party!

It looks as though I am getting my two extra wiimotes today or tomorrow! I would've liked to have had 4 remotes, but Wii Play comes out next month and it comes with an extra wiimote.

I'd like to schedule a Wii Party for Saturday late afternoon prior to going to Body Worlds (that forces us to leave around 8:30 to get dinner and to Science World in a timely fashion).

I'm thinking of being ready for gaming around 3:30-4pm. Earlier birds will get guaranteed play time on the game(s) of their choice. Multiplayer games (number of people able to play at one time) as as follows:

Need for Speed Carbon (2)
Elebits (3 - limited to number of wiimotes)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (3 - limited to number of wiimotes)
Wii Sports (2, 3, or 4 - one wiimote is shared for bowling, boxing is 2-player only)

I do not have Zelda: Twilight Princess at this time as I have leant it out in exchange for Need for Speed.

House rules are as follows:

1. The wrist strap stays on all the time.
2. Mach 10 speeds are not required for the system to recognize your movements.
3. Share. I may have troubles adhering to this one, but I'll try.
4. The wrist strap stays on all the time.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested, feel free to bring snacks or drinks as dinner will be late.

In case you missed it...

There will be a pajama housewarming party on Saturday April 15th. I'll probably start in the early afternoon, maybe with some video games, pirates, tour of my neighbourhood, etc. I'll order in pizza dinner (for the movers in my life this weekend, your pizza will be FREE!) and pop in the first movie. Intermission will occur and popcorn will be popped (maybe... I need a microwave/popper before then), maybe some chips or other snack-like items. Feel free to bring snacks yourself. I'll plunk in a second movie, which we will inevitably talk through. Perhaps some gaming to follow? It's going to be looser that I am outlining, so feel free to throw suggestions into the pile.

Cake and singing will be offered for birthday girls in attendance.

Hey Nerds!

Pirates and DSes and GameCubes and PS2s and poker and board games are to be had at the Clubhouse on Thursdays starting* this week.

You need to bring you, any portable gaming device you feel like bringing, some snackies for snacking, some bevies for sipping, and any game you would want to play. Alternatively, post what game you'd like to play and we'll attempt to accomodate all.

*offer may perpetuate itself based on popularity, feasibility and cooperation of the masees.

Quiet Decemberween

It's a busy time, but we promised everyone a Decemberween. All night are pretty much taken before Christmas except for December 17. I know there "might" be another event the next night, so if you've got plans already for the 18th and aren't down for two nights of partying, do go to the one the next night.

Decemberween is kind of being thrown together and in a quiet, no-pressure sort of gathering. If it's super quiet, board & video games will get pulled out. Otherwise, normal drinking and socializing which you should all know the drill by now.

PacManhattan

Live action PacMan, played on several square blocks in Manhattan. This video made me smile.

It's amazing how difficult it is to translate Pacman into reality. One challenge is allowing pacman to know where all the ghosts are, without the ghosts knowing where pacman is. This requires (apparently) a great deal of technology and organization. Ironically, it seems the amount of data processing required to play pacman in real life (cell-phones and software for player-tracking) far surpasses that required by the original computer game.

PacVan anyone?

P.S. You can play a Flash version of pacman (and several other vintage games) here.

'80s Gaming Nostalgia

This is one of the most impressive things I've stumbled upon in the last while. The old Super Mario Bros. story is given an unbelievably epic treatment in these Flash cartoons. And, it's a lot better than the Bob Hoskins/John Leguizamo movie they made 11 years back.

Addition to Decemberween: Part II. The Gaming Den.

Decided that Decemberween is going to be all the parties I wanted to have but didn't have time to in 2003.

Decemberween will be the standard party, still. A hybrid of Liver Destruction and some other party of some sort that the Clubhouse hosted at some point. Of note: Kat's birthday is the next day and we will be celebrating with cake, as well.

Slumberween will still occur, but I am thinking of altering the 1am and afterwards section. All that jammie and make-up stuff will still be there, but I want to offer an alternative to those (like myself) with whom make-up and stuff doesn't blend well with (even with the offer to be pampered by hoards of giggling jammied girls).

To stick with the theme, there will also be a Gamerween (okay, it's hit the point of absurdity). I'd like to set up both TVs and a bunch of games (like multiplayers, antiques, classics, and *possibly* new releases and of course: Nuts & Milk-- it's okay Mariko, there are no ingestition of milk OR nuts) after 1am. This will restrict the location of girly stuff as well as create a logistical issue with the Christian Slater movie in that it must be a DVD... Or not at all.

There are four things I miss the most since going back to school:
1. My friends. I knew this would take a dive if only because I wouldn't see Rae every day.
2. Social events en mass with alcohol. Oh, sure, there have been a few this year, but there is definitely a drop in these and an increased need/demand.
3. Gaming. Sweet, sweet video games, how I miss you and my consumerist ways.
4. My mind. All my thoughts are devoted to what school wants me to think about (like John Berger). It'd be nice to think again.

Hopefully I can flood this out of my system come December 13 (which I should clarify that all three 'weens are occuring on that night).
