The June D.o.S. Schedule

Hey Kids.

Okay, I'm done being a bum. Here is the schedule for the full month. You'll notice I've included last week's schedule too, but that's purely for for my own records so you can ignore that if it makes you happier.

Tuesday June 1: Anime Night (robots not included)
7pm: Tokyo Godfathers [2003] -- Charming tale of three street people: a middle aged alcoholic, an equally middle aged drag queen and a 15 year old runaway find a baby in the trash on Christmas Eve and embark on an epic journey across the city to reunite the child with her mother.
9pm: Millennium Actress [2001] -- A thousand years of Japanese history, a century of Japanese film history and close to sixty years of personal history collide when a documentary film crew interview a famous actress upon the destruction of the studio she help build. Beautiful and complex this is filmmaking at its best.

Tuesday June 8: Asian Creepfest
7pm: Tell Me Something [1999] -- Think of it as the Korean "Se7en". A grim and twisty serial killer movie involving bags of body parts and lots of blood. Fun and thrilling it'll apparently have you on the edge of your seat.
9pm: Ju-On: The Grudge [2003] -- I know some of you have seen it already, but we haven't so tuff toenails. Creepy Japanese horror. If you've seen Ringu you'll know what to expect.

Tuesday June 15: Ghost Stories (one film because it's really long)
8pm: Kwaidan [1964] -- Trilogy of Japanese ghost stories. Creepy, atmospheric and beautifully shot it should also provide some context for those who saw "Millennium Actress" at the beginning of the month (please note this movie is three hours long).

Tuesday June 22: Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll
7pm: Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator [2003] -- Chronicle of the late eighties skater who turned pro at 14 and by 17 was making over $100,000 a year. Too much money, too many drugs, and too much attention all add up to a spectacular and horrific fall from grace.
9pm: Heavy Metal Parking Lot [1986] -- Yes the title does explain it all. ** Note Changes**

Tuesday June 29: T.A. Night -- Musicians on Motorcycles
7pm: Cool As Ice [1991] -- Yes, that Cool As Ice.
9pm: Purple Rain [1984] -- Because Prince rules.
Booze or other intoxicant recommended.

R.S.V.P. pop fund, blah, blah, blah...
