In recent times we've have missed out on a couple of showings. One due to the weakness of the audience (Soldier of Orange), the other due to the weakness of the DVD or player. Well this week we're gonna rectify that.
Mon. Feb. 12th
7pm Salon Kitty (1976): Here's what I wrote when we originally programmed it; "This will be our first Tinto Brass movie we've seen. This about a brothel enjoyed by many a Nazi. There may be a plot involving recording the Nazis getting it on (meaning "bizarre passions and carnal degradations") with the ladies for blackmail purposes. But hey there's "Bizarre passions and carnal degradations". Sadly we don't know about programming more Tinto Brass movie for fear of tripping over people's boners while heading to the washroom." Yeah well the DVD didn't work but we have a different copy at my store so I'll be making sure to grab that one. Hey if that doesn't work there's the second half of "Aguirre: The Wrath of God".
9pm Last half of Soldier of Orange (1977): If you weren't here for the first half you might be confused. To recap by my faulty memory; WWII. Germany has invaded and conquered Holland. Rutger Hauer, a privileged care free student at the beginning of the film has grown into a concerned freedom fighter. He does some damage to the Germans forcing him to travel to England to escape reuniting with his old school chum on the fleeing freighter. At this point everyone was sleepy and went home. Bah. So we're finishing her off.
See ya tomorrow.
