Cat Sitter Needed

I was wondering if one of you was responsible enough to sit on my cats? This would be for four days, and would require you to feed them and love them, while I am in LA from Dec 7th to the 10th. Patroclus and Ajax would love you for it. If you are interested please contact me. If you don't have my new contact info it is on the forum.

I'm asking Santa and the Hanukkah Rhino for the following:

I spent so much effort on this, that I thought I would share!

And to make this more a community effort, it's time to list off your wishes for this holiday gift giving season!

(P.S. I really want the 20 volume OED, so pool your monies kids!)

Yes, There is a Movie Night Tomorrow

Hey kids, sorry for the late notice. Just wanted to remind you that there will be movies tomorrow (Monday Nov. 28th).

Maniac Night:

7pm: Maniac [1980] -- Classic of the stalk & slash genre.

9pm: Oily Maniac [1976] -- Bizarre, incredibly sleazy Shaw Brothers movie with a rubber slime monster. Has to be seen to be believed.

Pop fund, RSVP, blah, blah, blah.

See you tomorrow.

p.s. Don't forget, this year's Xmassacre is on Dec 16th at Blim (Main & 17th)!!!

Decemberween IV: THE REVENGE!

HEY GUYS! WANT TO COME TO A SWANK PARTY!?

Alright then!

Let's have a party at the Clubhouse on December 10th! At around 8pm!

This is the party where you are to bring 1 (one) item that you have had a hand in creating (either a CD where you're the musician, a craft you've thrown together with some glue, or any other form of expressed creativity). If you have any doubts about what is or is not acceptable, you can reach me via the normal lines of communication.

Hooray for holidays!

D.o.S. Reminder: NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!

Hi Kids,

Sorry this is a little later than usual. I've been hella busy. Just wanted to drop you a line to remind you that this week is Rape Revenge night, and if you are bothered by graphic sexual violence to women (& men) DO NOT COME. We will not hold it against you & would rather you feel safe and happy than hang out with us. But for those who can handle it, the schedule is:

Monday (tomorrow) Nov 21

7pm: Spit on Your Grave (a.k.a. Day of the Woman) [1978] -- The "classic". Girl is brutally beaten & raped by 4 men. She recovers & spends the rest of the movie hunting them down, mutilating & torturing them & finally killing them in graphic & inventive ways. You can decide for yourself how "feminist" it actually is after you see it.

9pm: Irreversible [2002] -- French bad-boy auteur Gaspar Noe's tale of love, redemption & horrible, brutal violence. Most famous for driving people out of theaters in droves & causing others to faint. Audacious & ultimately soul crushing, if you think you're up to it, this is cinema that changes.

And, bring your appetites, because it's also Hot Dog Day!!! (Yes, I'm serious). We'll be providing beef & chicken dogs for y'all. If there are any Veggies in the house, please let me know & I'll make arrangements.

Also wanted to give everyone a head's up regarding this year's Xmassacre (the D.o.S.'s annual Christmas party). We've worked out the details & this year will be our first ever public film event to the hosted at the Blim Arts Society (17th & Main) on Dec 16th (Friday)!!! Admission will be by donation ($5 suggested) to cover operating costs & our feature presentation (baring any customs snafus) will be "Santa Claus", a Mexican children's movie from the early 60's that features (among other things) Santa Claus fighting Satan. Fantastical sets, bizarre Catholic overtones & a fixation on voyeurism highlight this highly entertaining piece of cinema obscura. Also, we will be doing a "Crappy Santa Gift Exchange", so bring a wrapped present of little or no value to put into the pot. More details to follow in the weeks to come (& god willing a website!), so stay tuned.

See ya soon,

~meeko

Halloween Montage

Who was this old boy? The embodiment of revenge? incest? Glad I wasn't at the other end of the electrical tape.

Note that someone is missing from the other end. Oh, the costumes...looks like the cast of passe partout.

That is one cool Skeksis mask! Also, a python lumberjack.

The raggedy host and hostess.

Tiny Tim...actually, Lil' Tim by this point.

The kid who would be superman...also this year's winner!

THE DEN OF SIN STRIKES BACK!!!

You read right folks, we're back, & we're badder than ever.

Monday, November 7: Spy Games

7PM: Modesty Blaise [1966]: Monica Vitti plays the titular (I've always wanted to say that) super spy, based on the British mod newspaper comic of the same name. With Terence Stamp and Dirk Bogarde.

9PM: Danger Diabolik [1968]: Also based on a mod comic (this time Italian), only with Mario Bava (!!!!!!) directing. Stylish, sexy & very true to the source, this is required viewing.

Monday, November 14: Val Lewton Night Part 2

7PM: The Leopard Man [1943] -- One of the lesser known Lewton horrors, this one involves a lounge singer named Kiki & a leopard on a leash who gets loose. Directed by Jacques Tourneur, who also helmed the original "Cat People" & "I Walked With a Zombie".

9PM: Ghost Ship [1943] -- Weird male power dynamics dominate this claustrophobic horror film set on a boat. Is the Captain crazy, or is there something even more sinister at work?

Monday, November 21: Rape Revenge -- BIG DISCLAIMER: Do not come if the subject of rape upsets you. I'm serious, these are not pleasant movies.

7PM: I Spit On Your Grave [1978] -- The "classic". Sleazy, misogynist exploitation, oddly considered "feminist" because most of the film is spent with the girl hunting and brutally (!) killing the men who assaulted her. However, this ignores the first 45 mins of her being humiliated and assaulted.

9PM: Irreversible [2002] -- From French "bad boy" director Gaspar Noe, this movie has been known to destroy souls. Even Sinister Sam's. Starring real life couple Monica Belucci & Vicent Cassel.

Monday, November 28: Maniac Mansion

7PM: Maniac [1980] -- One of the classics of the stalk & slash genre, this one's considered better than average (although a far cry from "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer", which we'll be screening next month) & psychologically compelling.

9PM: Oily Maniac [1976] -- Completely bizarre Shaw Brothers monster movie about a guy who transforms into a slime monster & attacks women. Extremely exploitive (yes Bob, there are boobies) with a rubber oil monster. What's not to love about this movie?!?

Also, a very special presentation this Saturday beginning at 7PM:

Visionary Man: The Films of Uwe Boll

7PM: House of the Dead

9PM: Alone in the Dark

Bring all of the booze you can safely carry & any psychotropics you feel like ingesting. I'll print off directions for the drinking game online.

Pop fund will be in effect (please let me know if you want something other than Pepsi) & RSVP please.

Christmas Exchange

I was thinking of having a Clubhouse Winter Fest on the weekend before Christmas (Saturday December 17), but would like to have a gift exchange with the stipulation that you had to have made it (scarves, videogame themed cell phone cozies, music, artwork, craft projects, etc.).  The only rule is that you had to have made it (for example, a mixed CD, while you may have compiled it, does not illustrate your creative side; a mixed CD with cover art or music made by you would qualify).  Try to be creative and unique as you have a month and a half to get the ball rolling.  I probably will not do the Greedy Santa thing, but rather a reverse, where when your name is drawn you get to give your gift to someone; if the person you want to give the gift to already has a gift they must give their gift to someone else in order to open yours.

We’re all capable of making something, and it will be a great way to showcase our talents (or lack!).
