Xtra Special D.o.S. Screening This Wednesday

Hey folks,

Sorry for the late notice, but I just found out about this myself. This Wednesday (Feb 2/05) at 7:30pm there will be a very special screening at the Den of Sin of "Om Gottes Willen", Nina Hagen's documentary about her spiritual travels through India. There will likely be chanting before or after the screening as well and a special surprise guest (but if you ask really nice I might tell you). Please RSVP so that I know someone is coming. If you can make it I highly recommend it. This will be a night to remember.

The Triumphant Return of the D.o.S.

Okay kiddies, we're finally back. With a new day and everything. So, next Monday prepare to get your rocks off yet again:

Monday February 7/05
Verhoeven Night Part 2

7pm: Business is Business [1971] -- Verhoeven's first film to receive distribution in the US this is slice 'o life kind of picture, kind of comedic, kind of dramatic... set in Holland's famous red light district. AKA Diary of a Hooker, AKA Any Special Way. A must see for fans of Verhoeven's early work.

9pm: Turkish Delight [1973] -- An extra yummy Rutger Hauer stars a Dutch sculpter who has a stormy affair with a young girl. Told in flash back it's kinda like a Dutch (read: sexier, less sappy) take on "Love Story".

Next D.o.S. night will be Monday February 21/05. Schedule to follow. Plus, a special weekend edition of the D.o.S. with mystery guest. Maybe. Details to follow.

if the red cross can find paul's hand...

I know there has been talk of a road trip to seattle to witness none other than yours truly getting his ass kicked by a cartoonist half his size for copyright infringements involving a tattoo, but there is another trip worth mentioning...

the following weekend (valentine's weekend, no less), cinerama has a lord of the rings marathon for $35.

for those of you who haven't been to the cinerama, it is the COOLEST movie theatre on the planet. paul allen dropped a buttload of money into renovating it. it's even got stars on the ceiling!

anyway, you guys can discuss... comic con on the 5th, or lotr marathon on the 12th.

if paul's remains are recovered in time, perhaps even his hand could be present for corinne to hold the entire time...

This is SO awesome!

Sean just sent me this link and requested the exact dimensions of my patio. Wouldn't this be the perfect addition in time for a housewarming?

Yet another inflatable item to add to my wishlist.

KAYAK...the other is a KAYAK!

Merry Christmas Haloscan.

Shame on Burton, Shaun on Romero!

'First there was George Romero's classic 1978 zombie movie Dawn of the Dead. Then, last year, came the spoof of the movie, Shaun of the Dead. Now, Romero has a new film in the works, Land of the Dead, in which members of the cast of last year's spoof will be featured, one of the stars of the new movies has disclosed. John Leguizamo, who says he plays "a zombie killer" in the new movie, told the website ComingSoon.net, "I've got my own hypothesis too about [why Romero included the Shaun cast]. ... The beauty about Romero is that there's always been a sense of humor about things. I mean, there's always a little bit of a wink to it."' (imdb 1/18/05)

why, lard, why?

I'll admit, I was hopeful when I saw johnny depp was pegged as willy wonka. still didn't understand why they'd bother remaking the movie (yes, money, fuck you), but I figured if anyone could pull it off, he could.

then I saw this.

there is no god. or worse yet, this is proof there is, and all those fuckers who like dubya are right...
